- A little good news on the environemental front, EPA drops rules easing controls on power plants. NRDC lawyer John Walke claims victory as stunning, "This is the most high profile prize sought by the utility industry".
- Ships dumping ballast water in Wisconsin ports face legal action after December 19th, 2008. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says a new Environmental Protection Agency pollution discharge permit for ships isn't good enough to protect the state's waters from invasive species carried in ship ballast tanks. That's good, considering Congress is letting the anti-invader ballast bill die at the end of the month.
- Bad news, the Bush administration issues revised endangered species regulations. The midnight rule changes would put decisions about endangered species into the hands of agencies with a vested interest in advancing projects and with little expertise about wildlife. Kiss the pacific salmon goodbye.
