Assault with a deadly weapon
The roughfisher finally made it to Maine, but along the way, stopped by our friends over at The Driftless Angler and Uncommon Carp. Mat had my new service weapon waiting for me on the counter at his shop, fruits of my countless hours of toil at the vise. The Echo TR 12'0 5 weight two handed rod. This badboy has a grain window of 360 to 480 grains and should be able to handle everything from my 380 gr Elixir line to a fatty-bo-batty 450 gr skagit head. The fit and finish of this rod is exquisite. My higher priced domestic made rods are likely going to see more time on the bench. See more for yourself over at Uncommon Carp; if they don't have the Echo rod you want listed, give Mat a call and he will hook you up.
I love these new light, short two handed rods.

Looking into getting something similar myself. I'd especially like to hear your thoughts about its versatility compared to a 5wt switch.
ReplyDeleteNice piece man, been thinking of getting into Spey casting myself.
