Cabin Fever

So a few weeks back, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, indicating another 6 weeks of winter. If only that were to be the case here in MN. I clearly remember back to last April, when in two events, a week apart, we received over 30" of snow at the Roughfisher Command Post. What an insult. Luckily, the snow was gone in a few weeks, but it still left a lasting impression.

We've had an interesting winter here thus far; Record snowfalls in December, record low temps in January dipping below -40°F, an unseasonable rain storm in early February, and almost zero new snow since the first of the year. This morning however, was more typical of a mid-February morning: a fresh coating of snow, -2°F and sunny, and a stiff crippling wind. This is the time of the shack nasties. Everyone seems to be bitching about it on angling blogs and online forums everywhere. It's time to wash off that stank and bathe in the aura of Helios.

We are jonesing here at the Command Post. We are anxiously awaiting our next mission, closely monitoring the ether waves and scanning the horizon. Hopefully our next assignment will be dispatched in the near future, otherwise, there's gonna be a jail break. AWOL.

Is it spring yet?
